Inhorgenta Sparkles For UK Jewellers

So, how was it for you? Having walked the walk in Munich this year, I left with the realisation that Inhorgenta is a jewel of a trade show that certainly deserves its international status as a leading industry event.

The six exhibition halls were brimming with over 1,000 exhibitors from 42 countries representing the worlds of jewellery, watches, gemstones, precious metals, boxes, packaging and more. Quite frankly, whatever the 27,000 visitors were there for, they were sure to find it.

I certainly did. With my love of beautiful packaging design, an eye on future market trends and a keen interest in UK jewellers, I was spoiled for choice and I had a very full must-see list of exhibitors. It was particularly good to see 28 British companies in Munich and I found something to love in all of them. In no particular order, then, here are just a few of my Best of British highlights.

Elizabeth Jane Campbell’s beautiful jewellery is young British design at its best. Working with enamel and precious metals, her contemporary jewellery is simple, sophisticated and gorgeous.

Azuni’s SS19 collection was quite rightly getting a lot of attention and I was particularly drawn to the beautiful beadwork, a great fusion of ancient techniques and modern design. Plus, there’s a strong set of socially responsible ethics behind it too.

It wasn’t just stunning jewellery that caught my eye, however, I was completely taken by Scottish watch makers, Kartel. Pared back contemporary design, achingly stylish and extremely affordable. I could happily wear every watch they had on their stand!

A round-up of this year’s Inhorgenta wouldn’t be complete without a mention for Kate Wood. I find her jewellery lovely in every way – delicate, feminine, intricate and beautifully made with obvious care and impeccable attention to detail.

Despite the many uncertainties we face in the UK and Europe, the mood in Munich was definitely upbeat among business owners across all areas of the industry.

Speaking to exhibitors, there was a real enthusiasm for our design-led packaging and our innovative approach to helping independent jewellers improve their packaging, branding and marketing. It was especially informative to speak to those who were finding the move to online sales challenging, which is something we can definitely help with.

I left with a long list of potential new customers and full of inspiration for our exciting year ahead.
